There are crosses, thorns and hard places. This should be no surprise. Consider the One we follow: Jesus. Through it all, the Lord promises to bring His victory with eternal, good consequences. Nothing escapes His gaze. Nothing is beyond His use for His glory and our everlasting joy (even when there is great temporal sorrow). Consider the cross. Our family entered a very difficult and unexpected season in early 2016. As it began, the Lord told me to enter His Dwelling Place with worship and gaze at Him. I was not to pray—not to intercede—(which comes so naturally for me) and not to be distracted from simply contemplating His majesty. At all times, I was to be at rest and still before Him. In that place, He promised to teach me new and deeper aspects of Himself. “Fathom My depths!” He called. This was to be shared with you via new songs. Simultaneously, He promised that, as I obeyed, He would do the work to bring His victory in our circumstances. He Himself. For His glory. So, all would know He alone is God.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEight of the songs on this album are composed from this special place in Him. Three are special in their own right. “You Are There” is the redemption of the first song I ever composed. Originally written in 1974, melancholy, hopeless and without God, now it is worship with Him as the answer. (Oh, the difference faith in our Lord makes!) The Lord dropped “Andrea’s Song” into my mind after I heard her voice as an unexpected firm whisper several days following her death, proclaiming the words of the song’s chorus. In so doing, she fulfilled the verse she had declared every day during her illness, but in a manner far beyond what she had ever imagined. Indeed, she is alive, now fully in God’s presence. Indeed, through Jesus, death has lost its horrible sting. Instead, we cross its threshold into the life for which God created us. “Your Glory” was written in 2008 and has been sung many times, in many sanctuaries, inviting more of God into our hearts and midst.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHoly One, may our worship, which is offered as an ongoing sacrifice of praise (an expression of our extreme trust in You), no matter what is going on around us, rise up as fragrant incense to You.
